چکیده

Because of its specific biochemical and molecular properties and nutrient importance, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is an established model to study fruit growth and development. This review paper addresses several aspects of tomato fruit growth and development including its specific phases, control by water regime, cell wall enzymes, plant hormones and metabolic processes.

Agricultural crop growth modelling: a tool for dealing with the threat of climate change affecting food security (case study for greenhouse tomato)

Climate change and essentiality of the food security have motived scientists to try innovative approaches, among which, crop growth models can help to predict crop yield. In order to simulate tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) growth, phenological characteristics of a short-life variety of tomato were assessed. Phenologic characteristics included leaf area index (LAI), specific leaf area (S...

Identification of Linked Markers for Delayed Fruit Ripening in Tomato Using Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) Markers

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is an important vegetable crop and acts as model plant for fruit development studies. Besides that, post-harvest damage is a devastating phenomenon often associated with ripening process in tomato which in turn leads to greater yield loss. Understanding the genetics, molecular and biochemical pathways is the key to overcome the existing situation. In th...

Ubiquitin related enzymes and plant-specific ubiquitin ligase ATL family in tomato plants

Ubiquitination is one of the fundamental post-translational modifications of proteins with ubiquitin, a conserved 76-amino acid protein present in eukaryotes, which is catalyzed by ubiquitin ligase. Compared with humans, the number of ubiquitin ligase genes is nearly double in plant species such as Arabidopsis and rice, suggesting that this enzyme plays critical roles in many aspects of plant g...

The Effect of Humic Acid and Amino Acid Organic Fertilizers on Growth of Greenhouse Tomato Fruits Harvested at Four Growth Stages

Due to ever increasing greenhouse cultures, using organic fertilizers for enhancing healthy products is necessary. To investigate the effect of two types of these fertilizers on tomato, in a factorial experiment, based on completely randomized design with 3 replications, with 2 pots in each replication, 0 g/kg humic acid (Humic0) and 1 g/kg (Humic1) and amino acid at 3 levels of 0 g/kg (Amin0),...

Endoreduplication and fruit growth in tomato: evidence in favour of the karyoplasmic ratio theory.

The growth of a plant organ depends upon the developmental processes of cell division and cell expansion. The activity of cell divisions sets the number of cells that will make up the organ; the cell expansion activity then determines its final size. Among the various mechanisms that may influence the determination of cell size, endopolyploidy by means of endoreduplication appears to be of grea...
